Questions.
Where does the benchmark come from?
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS). We use the 2025 annual average monthly quits rate for your industry, multiplied by 12 to give an annual rate. BLS’s annual quits totals confirm the annualized figures.
Why compare only voluntary leavers?
JOLTS “quits” are people who left by choice. Layoffs, retirements and other exits are counted separately, so comparing all leavers with quits would overstate your turnover.
Is anything I enter saved?
No. The snapshot runs in your browser. We count only that a snapshot was completed and whether turnover came out above, in line with or below the benchmark, with no personal or company information.
What does “person-years uncovered” mean?
Leavers multiplied by days to fill, divided by 365: the total time seats sat empty, expressed in full-time years. It shows the capacity your organization absorbed while hiring.
